Facial mask (undetermined socio-cultural group) Tanzania H: 59 cm. Wood, pigments, feathers, cords, raffia, plant elements Polychrome facial mask with large convex expressive face. The red, ochre and white flat tints give rhythm to the composition. The eyes are represented by two horizontal "drops", the wide and short nose presents two pierced nostrils, finally the mouth opens on a wide toothed smile. The base of the mask, with a beard made of braided cords, is reinforced with wickerwork. A feather surmounts the top of the skull Consultant : Jean-Pierre Lacoste
