Kwele mask with six eyes, called "Lapicque mask" Gabon H: 32 cm. Wood, pigments Anthropomorphic mask with six eyes linked to initiation. This stylized figure has an ovoid, flat shape with three pairs of almond-shaped eyes that are symmetrically distributed on either side of a central vertical axis representing the nose. The painter Charles Lapicque owned one, hence the name Replacement object, when the original was sold, harvested, stolen or destroyed, often made by the same sculptor as the original, this object is old and served as a Consultant : Jean-Pierre Lacoste
