ASMR is a film about the infinitesimal, the banal, playing on an impression of déjà vu. It is the sound that guides our gaze towards the action in progress, a domestic ritual performed a thousand times over: effervescent pastilles dissolve in the water. At the limit of the perceptible and beyond the impression that nothing is happening, our ear recognizes and identifies the ordinary event, our gaze is gradually captivated by these movements as simple as they are enigmatic: the lozenges rise to the surface one by one, like a familiar dance. The fixed plane reinforces the impression of quasi-immobility and allows a form of slowness conducive to the observation of these everyday objects. The contemplation of the infinitesimal allows us to experience a certain temporality, in the manner of the photographic process, a process of appearance and disappearance.
