Clowns musiciens have a similar but even more colourful style. The clothing’s colourful motifs seem to escape from the fabrics into the air. They even seem to emanate from the instruments. The animation also seems to have escaped from its material support: the violinist's face seems to have emptied; only his glowing expression remains. Corrida and Quatuor à cordes are bustling with colours and movement. The brushs- trokes are short, furtive and go in all directions, suggesting dyna- mic movements, but follow a precise rhythm. It is so lively in places that the colours seem to melt into grey shadows.
