Mathematician, natural scientist (1608-1679). Letter possibly with "Devotisso Sere Gio Alf. Borelli". Pisa, 6. IX. 1664. 1 p. 28 x 20 cm. Very rare letter to the physician Marcello Malpighi (1628-94) in Messina, the founder of microscopic anatomy. Borelli hoped that Malpighi would be able to continue his studies of the human brain after his recovery, and in this connection he expressed criticism of, among other things, the latest work of the English anatomist and founder of neurology, Thomas Willis (1621-75), Cerebri anatome (1664), whose scientific approach seems to him to be too one-sidedly focused on the soul, imagination and fantasy. - In the left white margin with tear-off (text not concerned). - ╔Ausführliche Description please anfordern╗.
