DIGITION CHRISTI
Oil on canvas. Doubled.
40 x 49 cm.
Interesting diagonal composition probably by the Veronese painter, who together with Alessandro Turchi (1578-1649) was a pupil of Felice Brusasorci (1540-1605). The lifeless body of Christ is depicted in a broken descending diagonal of two light strips and surrounded by numerous people. Typical for Ottino and also for Turchi were the putti, which here too have formed themselves in a circle, floating high above the scene in front of a dark background. (1222054) (4) (13)
