ALTER BILDHAUER TRAINS HIS LEHNING oil on canvas. 90,5 x 78 cm. Unframed. The painting, in accentuated chiaroscuro, shows an old graybearded master who instructs his apprentice in drawing. He has placed his left hand on the boy's shoulder, the right hand holds a charcoal pencil with which he draws on an opened sketchbook. Next to it on the left is the torso of a stone figure, at the lower edge of the picture on the table a so-called cranesbill, a device for taking measurements in sculptures.
