THORN CROWNING AND SCOFFING CHRISTI Oil on canvas. 95 x 127,5 cm. Unframed. The theme, occasionally also called "Jesus at the Flagellation Column", is reproduced here in several figures, in front of a multi-column background and a view into landscape. Six henchmen surround the Jesus sitting on a stone, bound by hands, with one of them handing him the mocking sceptre, another one striking him with a stick. On the ground more instruments of torture. The painting has occasionally been attributed to the Venetian engraver and painter Silvestro Maniago (c. 1670- c. 1735). (1221711) (3) (11)
