PICTURE OF A MAN WITH NECK ROSE AND UPPER LIPBOARD Oil on paper, mounted on blackboard. 32.5 x 27.5 cm. Flaming strip frame. Included in copy is a detailed documentation by Emilio Negro showing the connection with the aforementioned comparative picture. Emphasizes light colours and concentrates on almost pastel light brown colour values. Stylistically, the painting can be seen first in the sphere of activity of Antonio Carracci, but also in the workshop of Prospero Fontana (1512-1597) or Denys Fiammingo Calvaert (1540-1619). Finally, in the works of the above-mentioned masters, there is a painting "Young man with ruff and lute" which was initially attributed to Agostino Carracci, but is ultimately seen as a work of Bartolomeo Passarotti. The reproduction of the head is almost identical, the lute player painting mentioned dates from 1576, but in any case, the painting at hand is closely related to this work, whether as a preliminary study or later repetition, by whatever hand, it remains to be seen.
