JESUS DISTRIBUTES THE DEALERS FROM THE TEMPLE oil on wood. 40 x 30 cm. Inscription and date on verso "1664 17 August". In gilded frame. Christ in red long robe and blue moving cloak, with stretched out right arm holding a rope, on the staircase to the temple, driving away traders. Among these are a merchant with a basket and a goose on his head running away to the left, a money changer and a man with a wooden box with doves. In the foreground a man with a blue cap and white headgear, a heavy box, probably filled with money, dragging away. The merchants flee from fright and fear from the temple, which can be seen in the background with high columns and round arches. Popular motif in art history, in fresh bright colours. (12205631) (18)
