Quite in the style of Sirani, the unclothed Cupid with illuminated incarnate parts is shown in front of a dark landscape prospect, while his quiver with the arrows lies on the ground beside him. The innocently embarrassed look may suggest his sense of guilt, which makes him crouch there, or else he is tied up precisely because of his deeds for which he had been reprimanded all too often.
