THE MADONNA WITH THE JESUS CHILD AND JOHN THE DEPRETEE Oil on copper. 21 x 17 cm. Mary sitting in a landscape with red robe, blue coat and light brown headgear, holding the naked blond haired boy Jesus in a white cloth on her lap. Her head is surrounded by a bright nimbus, which stands out particularly well against the large, wrinkled blue curtain in the background on the right. In front of both of them kneels the little St. John boy with his attributes, a fur robe and a long cross staff with banner. The Jesus Boy has grasped this with his right hand and points to the cross with the outstretched finger of his left hand. In the background on the left, passing a tall yellow-brown tree and a green bush, the eye falls on a white semi-circular building and on a high white pyramid, under a blue sky with white cloud formations.
