RIVER WITH SEA BOAT Oil on wood. 64.6 x 96.3 cm. Signed and dated "VG 1655" at lower left on the boat. Marvellous toned depiction of a river, both banks of which can be seen. In the foreground a landing fishing boat, together with cows, in the background the representation of a place built close to the water with church and lock. The water is enlivened by the reflections of the boats and the shore closing the horizon. Provenance: Dr Philipp Friedrich Gwinner (1796-1868), Frankfurt am Main. From there: Auction Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt am Main, May 24, 1869, lot 61, sold to: Sophie Jacobi-Keutzer, Frankfurt am Main.
