HOLY MAGDALENA WITH TWO ANGELS
Oil on canvas.
97 x 72,5 cm.
The strong chiaroscuro effect of the painting is striking, which is a characteristic of the caravaggism common in the time. The young penitent is shown wringing her hands, slightly shifted from the centre to the right. In front of a table at the side two angels have approached, the one in the foreground points to the Bible and the skull lying on it. Both the violet-red colour of the cloak and the colourful counterplay of the green glowing colour of the nimbus wreath are elements of the colour scheme of Mannerism. (12218012) (3) (11)
