Height: 51 cm. Mid 18th century. In the shape of a jug in blue glazed porcelain with rich gilded bronze mounting. Body of the jug ovaloid tapering upwards. Smooth round base surrounded by a rocaille base with C-arms and leaves and hints of rock pieces. Reed leaves rising from the body of the vase with bulrushes. Strong S-arched handle with volutes in leaves at the top. Also decorated with reed leaves at the base. Large shell between leaves at the spout, corresponding to the water theme. The cast bronze reinforcements are of high quality, finely chased and fire-gilded. The porcelain vase body itself possibly Chinese export for the European market of the 18th century.
