History of King Henry the Great. New edition, enriched with a note on Henri IV, by M. Andrieux. Paris, Étienne Ledoux, 1822.
Grand in-8, 2 ff.n.ch., XL and 504 pp.: brown morocco, framed by three fillets interrupted at the corners by a fleuron, on the plates a large plate with a motif of stylised foliage and a medallion in reserve in the form of a mandorla, smooth spine decorated, inner fillet finished at the ends by a small fleuron, lining and endpapers of parma moiré, gilt edges (Thouvenin).
Portrait of King Henry IV, at the age of 48, engraved by Dequevauvillers after Pourbus.
Superb decorated binding by Joseph Thouvenin, decorated on the covers with a large Restoration plaque.
The copy bears, on a guard, an autograph signed shipment from the bookbinder to Firmin Cliquot (1756-1840), a distinguished amateur: this collector from Reims, probably a member of the family of champagne wine merchants, constituted a rich library dispersed in 1843 (not in the catalogue).
The copy appeared in the bulletin Morgand (no. 34102) and comes from the Henri Beraldi Library (V, 1925, no. 242: the recipient of the consignment was mistakenly identified as Valentin Cliquot).
