Autograph letter signed to the publisher Armand Dutacq. (Paris, ca. 1854-1855); one page in-8 oblong. Doré addresses the publisher of Balzac's Contes drolatique, which he illustrated with more than 420 woodcut drawings and which is one of his most successful books. "I've just come from the print shop where I found the proofs very good, even irreproachable, but they're going very slowly. Only two forms since last Tuesday do not prove that the second half of the book will go faster than the first"...". This one will be published by Dutacq (Société générale de librairie) at the end of 1855. The 10,000 copies of the edition will be quickly sold out.
