LARGE AND BIG TRIPOD PERFUME BURNER WITH BRONZE ELEPHANTS WITH BROWN PATINA
China, Qing Dynasty, 18th-19th centuries
Heavy, it has an inverted campaniform belly, which rests on three elephantiform feet / elephant faces richly harnessed. This first one has two handles, which draw up elephant trunks emanating from dragon's mouths. It is topped by a domed lid entirely openworked with foliage and lotus-blossomed foliage scrolls and topped by a large recumbent elephant. On the back of the elephant is a vase with multiple symbols including a ruyi scepter, lotus, coral and conch. Notable work of chiseling sensitive in the multiplicity of details. Beautiful plastic rendering of the elephants (patina not original or, at least, having been retouched afterwards; restoration on the lid; small lack on the lip).
H: 36.5 cm - W: 26.5 cm - D: 16.5 cm
