Visual artist born in Marseille in 1952, Gérard Traquandi lives and works in Marseille and Paris where he is represented by the Laurent Godin gallery. He has taught in art and architecture schools in Marseille and Nimes. He exhibits in France and abroad: New York, Montreal, London, Brussels and loves places of spirituality such as the abbeys of Silvacane and Montmajour. His work is present in the museums and collections of the FRAC in 9 regions. For him "to paint is to stand in tension between two realities: that of the painting and that of the external reality in order to keep an equal distance from two prejudices? The motif is a landmark, it serves to filter the agreed aesthetic. It is a referent that I use whenever I want ... A little piece of nature does the trick, not manufactured products. The experience of the landscape is made by crossing it. The paradox of the painter is to flatten this penetration. » Untitled Pastel 23 x 35 cm frame 39 x 51cm www.laurentgodin.com/grard-traquandi
