JULES VIEILLARD BORDEAUX Nella service in polychrome earthenware Composed of 124 pieces, including: 3 shaped pieces, 2 sugar bowls, 72 large plates, 24 soup plates, 17 small plates, 1 meat dish, 2 entremet dishes, 1 cake dish, 1 vegetable dish and 1 soup tureen with polychrome decoration of flowering stems, birds, insects and butterflies. Marked: JVB and Nella. End of the 19th century This "Nella" service, made at Vieillard's in the 1870s and 1880s, with its off-centre decoration of flowering stems, birds and insects, is halfway in the Japanese vein and naturalism inherited from 18th century porcelain Bibliography: Jacqueline du Pasquier, "J.
