Hösel, Erich Annaberg 1869 - 1953 Meissen, sculptor, studied at the academy of arts in Dresden, professor, supplied numerous designs for the Meissen manufactory. ''Hun, riding'', E: 1897, A: Meissen, before 1924, porcelain, polychrome onglaze painting, full-length portrait of the rider on horseback with shield, quiver and bow, his gaze directed down to the skull lying on the ground, on elongated, profiled landscape base, underglazed blue mark on the pommel sword at the bottom, incised model no. Q 197, bossing no. 137, painter no. 52, HxL: approx. 30.3/31.5 cm. Order/defects, upper part of the body, head and bow expertly rest. Lit.: Miner Meissener Künstler-Figuren, model numbers A100 - Z300, cat.-no. 545. The bronze equestrian statue, designed in 1895, served as the model for the porcelain version, today positioned in the colonnade courtyard of the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
