Whistle vase with bat decoration It is composed of two distinct bellies, one in the shape of a bat and the other decorated with a shaman holding two ceremonial sticks on a beaded background. They are connected by a handle with a whistle that comes to life when the vase is filled with liquid. Brown terracotta with glossy black slip. Chimu culture, Peru 1100 - 1450 AD H. 20 - l. 20 - Ep. 20 cm Provenance: - Former private European collection - Bears an old label No. 162 characteristic of sales at the Hotel Drouot in the 1920s and 1940s.
