French school of the 19th century, after VIGÉE LEBRUN Portrait of Pierre Le Gobien (1727-1789), privateer captain from Saint-Malo Oval Canvas. 65 x 55 cm A reprint of a painting by Madame Vigée Lebrun kept in a private collection. In 1775 Miss Vigée, who was not yet Madame Lebrun, painted the portrait of the famous Malouin, Pierre Le Gobien. This portrait is reproduced in a book devoted to Jean Bart in 2002, Jean Bart, du corsair au héros mythique.
