Partly original edition, the first
to bear the title Complete Works.
"This edition is more complete than any previous or subsequent edition. Béranger regarded it as definitive; indeed, it was, since those of 1835, 1836, etc., and even the 1847 one, except for the 10 new songs, are only reprints of the 1834 one, minus the supplement.

The illustration includes 105 compositions out of text, including 1 captioned portrait-frontispiece representing Béranger in front of the window of his prison, engraved after a composition by Ary Scheffer (volume 1), 1 portrait-frontispiece representing Béranger, woodcut after a composition by Nicolas-Toussaint Charlet (volume 4) and 103 captioned hors-texts engraved in intaglio after compositions by Achille Deveria, Tony and Alfred Johannot, Charlet, Grenier, Théophile Fragonard, Isabey, Henri Monnier, Horace Vernet, etc.
There is
also a facsimile of an autograph letter from Béranger
with his transcription. One
hundred of these compositions come from a new edition of the suite published from 1828 to 1833
; three are unpublished.
