PARQUET REGULATOR Paris, Louis XV period, circa 1750 Blackened pearwood, gilded bronze, enamel H. 210 cm, W. 73 cm, D. 33 cm Small enamel chip This large baluster-shaped parquet floor regulator has a dial showing the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. It is contained in a curved shape, topped by a golden bronze clasp, with shells and shoulders of foliage scraps. The body of the clock in violin sheath, presents a large bulge underlined by fillets and acanthus leaves in chased and gilded bronze. In the centre, a glass reserve, called the balance bezel, allows its movement to be seen against a mercury mirror background. The lower part, in flared console is decorated with a Bronze decoration. It rests on a moulded baseboard base. Movement with Chevalier de Béthune escapement and double leaf suspension.
