The Louis XV flat desk combines novelty and tradition. Compared to its Regency ancestor, it differs from it by a general softening of the lines. Also new is the almost definitive disappearance of the boxes and the alignment of the central drawer, which was previously set back, right above the belt. But the tradition remains in maintaining a tripartite division corresponding to the three drawers.
