Rare and exceptional Espahan (Persia) 16th century, Safavid period.
Wool velvet on cotton foundations. Geometrically stylized surrounded by beige and emerald green geometric palmette seedlings. Triple borders, the main one being midnight blue with a decoration reminiscent of the central field.
Wear and tear, natural oxidation and very old restorations, garnet field with nail bands decoration.
