In the taste of the 16th century H. 27 cm W. 38 cm D. 17 cm Provenance: > Former collection of Doctor Jean-Alfred Fournier (1832-1914) who would have received it as a gift from Prince Alexei Saltykov (1806-1859), an important collector of the High Era. > By descent, his son Edmond Fournier (1864- 1961?) >Its sale, Domaine de la Grognarde in Marseille from 14 to 22 November 1961, lot 313, illustrated and presented as follows: "Aquamanile in the shape of a lion. This object comes from the collections of Prince Soltikoff and was given by him to Dr. Alfred Fournier. 16th Century" > Acquired at the time of this sale, by descent
