Joseph PENLINGTON. Two-day marine chronometer, identified by its number "2336". Circa 1850/1860. It is protected by a three-tier mahogany case. The silvered dial is marked "Joseph Penlington - St Georges Crescent - Liverpool", the hours on the circumference are in Roman numerals, the hands are in brass. This model has a power reserve of 56 hours, indicated by a dial at noon. The minutes are indicated in a dial at 6 o'clock. The stopwatch is mounted "on the cardan shaft" and has its own locking system to be locked when moving. The movement is enclosed in a drum, dust cover, made of brass. The box has three levels. The manufacturer's plate with the chronometer's identification elements is fixed on the front panel between the lock entry and the push button. On the sides two inlaid and swinging brass carrying handles. Inside, label dated "June 1947" from the watchmaker in Paris who changed the oils. Box dimensions: 17.5 x 17.8 x 19.5 cm. The winding key is missing. Sold as is. Note: Joseph PENLINGTON practised at Liverpool St Georges Crescent from 1848 to 1903.
