Antonio De Simone (1851 / 1907). Huniers schooner "Bonny Mary of Jersey". Two gouaches forming a pendant. The first represents the schooner in calm weather in the Bay of Naples, the second in heavy weather in open water. Signed lower right. Headings at the bottom and in the centre. Smear marks. Sold as is. Note: This type of performance, in pendant, was one of Antonio de Simone's specialities. It is becoming rare to see a pair of boat portraits by De Simone on sale. The lure of profit has often led sellers to sell each of the two gouaches individually.
