Large cult vase with a magnificent incised and round decoration. The motifs evoke an interlacing of primitive glyphs forming heads of human and animal deities. On each side, the monkey god is modeled in relief with his legs spread apart and those at the top pointing symbolically towards the sky. The deified and venerated animal monkey in pre-Columbian America is considered beneficial. Orange terra cotta with smooth slip, localized red incised Arari type, Marajo Island, Brazilian Amazon, Marajoara phase, 400-1350 AD 28 x 23cm
