collection As by an alchemy of painting corresponding to ? the Alchemy of the verb ?, Philippe Pasqua has got used to? the simple hallucination? He makes monsters and mysteries emerge from the nexus, but in his case hallucination does not consist in substituting visions for reality, but in considering reality in all its reality - independently of idealism, which usually cleanses it up and sometimes even transfigures it into a representation. There is never too much reality in reality, he seems to tell us. And what interests him most is not the smooth, the gum, the embellished, but the herring, the "beauty diapree" of Hopkins, the accidents of the skin, the whims of the light, the disorder of the hair, the strangeness of the expression.
Michel Waldberg, "The dazzled ephemeral".
