BETOUT Charles (1869-1945). Set of models of men's costumes by Charles Bétout, costume designer, costume designer for the Paris Opera and head of the clothing and costume workshops of the Comédie-Française from 1919 to 1939. These models were addressed to Mr. Christophe and Mr. Georges Tisné (his successor in 1912) costumers of the Theatres in Bordeaux. Rigoletto - Lakmé - Faust - Hamlet - Sigurd - La Dame Blanche - Roméo - Lohengrin - La Favorite - Manon - Hérode - Seventeen costume models. Gouached-watercolours, annotated at the top, bear the stamp of the signature and the stamp of the Maison Christophe - Georges Tisné successor - Costumier des Théatres in Bordeaux. Each model is accompanied by a descriptive and explanatory letter of the costume. Seven anonymous gouache watercolours for Carmosine, Lohengrin, Joseph, Samson and Dalila are attached, as well as drawings on copy, photographs of actors and correspondence between Charles Bétout, Emile Bréhier and Messrs Christophe and Tisné between 1906 and 1933.
