Medal Great War 1914-1918 - Medal bearing on its face a Marianne helmeted and armed with a sword, holding in his hands an olive branch. - On the back, a circular inscription around the medallion "French Republic" followed in its centre by the inscription "Great War 1914-1918". - History: - The Great War Memorial Medal was created on June 23, 1920. The Mâcon engraver Pierre-Alexandre MORLON won the competition organised among the French artists of the time. To be awarded this medal, one had to be attached to a military command between August 2, 1914 and November 11, 1918.
