The Besenberg workshop was active in Saint Petersburg in the 1870s. The portrait is mounted on cardboard, the front side of which is set with a red frame with the photographer's name inside the frame, the front side indicates his address in Saint Petersburg (55 Fontanka). Tolstoy's name is indicated by a wet stamp in Cyrillic letters.
