Ecole russe, vers 1800. Portrait de Frédéric 1er, duc de Wurtemberg, frère de l'impératrice Marie Feodorovna. Miniature sur ivoire oval. 4 x 3.5 cm. Fils de Frédéric Eugène de Wurtemberg & de Frédérique Dorothée de Brandebourg, Frédéric (1754-1816) était le frère aîné de Sophie Dorothée (1759-1828) qui épousa le futur Tsar Paul, prit le nom de Marie Feodorovna et devint la mère d'Alexandre Ier & de Nicolas Ier. En 1782, Catherine II donna de ses propres mains l'ordre de Saint André à Frédéric de Wurtemberg, qui entra au service de Russie. Par la suite, il commanda une division, devint gouverneur de Kherson, sur le Dniepr, et fut nommé gouverneur général de Finlande. Russian school (?). Catherine II granted the Prince the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In 1782, the prince moved to the Russian service, commanded the division and was appointed governor of Kherson, and then governor-general of Finland.
