Joseph Lante (graveur) [d'après l'original de Stefano Torelli (peintre)]. Portrait de l'impératrice Catherine II en majesté. Vers 1762. Gravure sur soie. 41.7 x 28 cm. Le portrait de Stefano Torelli fut peint en 1762 pour commémorer le couronnement de l'Impératrice. Elle est représentée en buste, vers la gauche, couronnée et portant le grand collier de l'Ordre de Saint André; devant elle, sur un guéridon où figurent des livres ouverts (Education du prince; Etablissements; Code), apparaît le portrait du tsarevitch Paul Petrovitch (le futur tsar Paul Ier); dans le cartouche, l'avers & le revers d'une médaille (représentant le Panthéon). Référence : un tirage sur simple papier fut présenté au public, par les bons soins du Cabinet Honoré d'Urfé, lors de l'exposition tenue en Septembre 2013 à la résidence de l'Ambassadeur de Russie en France, intitulée "Les Romanov. Une dynastie au service de la Russie (1613-2013) Joseph Lunt (engraver), originally Stefano Torelli. Silk, engraving with an incisor. 41.7 x 28 cm. Below right under the picture is the signature "Joseph Lante scul." In front of the Empress on the table, along with the portrait of the heir to the throne, there are books "Education du prince", "Etablissements" and "Code". Below under the portrait of the Empress is the obverse and reverse of the medal with the image of the Pantheon and the inscription CATHERINA II MAGNA FELIX AVGVSTA. The portrait in the coronation dress was painted by Stefano Torelli on the occasion of Catherine II's accession to the throne in 1762. Joseph (Giuseppe) Lunt (1737-1779).
