A silver and gold handle fibula with a finely incised decoration.
Semicircular head, topped with a digitation and two lateral appendages, decorated with X-shaped stamped motifs; arrowhead-shaped foot.
Visigothic art, 6th / 7th century Height: 4.5 cm - Width: 2.5 cm
(missing two lateral appendages)
This particularly refined little fibula is a rather rare female jewel.
According to the collector, the X-shaped decoration indicates that it belongs to the Gothic or Ostrogothic peoples driven by the Huns and refugees in the Crimea, south of the peninsula of the Byzantine Empire.
