CHASSEPOT", lever breech with a push-piece for opening; rear plate, hammer with percussion; brass fittings, barrel held by two fixing rings: nasturtium and mouthpiece, the latter equipped with an iron strap loop, iron trigger guard; walnut stock with long barrel; iron rod; total length 117,5 cm.
Second Empire period. Very good condition.
This weapon mainly uses the provisions of the 1858 carabiner, except for the 12 mm calibre, which is that of the 1862 system. As this carabiner is a gift from the contractor, the sabre-lance fixing devices have logically been removed, allowing the barrel to be extended, which gives the weapon a better appearance.
PROVENANCE: sale of the MARSAN collection, 3rd part, Toulouse on May 14, 1995, n° 186.
