Large Algerian flintlock moukalha, octagonal barrel punched to the thunder; lock with a miquelet covered, on the body, with a brass plate and, on the other elements, with engraved silver plates, it is signed below and dated: Hegira "1239" (1824); walnut stock entirely inlaid with cut silver plates decorated with flowers, foliage and arabesques; the barrel is held by five silver rings pierced, decorated with foliage; wooden rod; length 183 cm. (End of the stitch gun; Missing leather hand rest). Restoration Period. Good condition. This rifle comes from the capture of the smala of ABD el KADER, offered by the Duke of Aumale to Mr. BERNOIS; it filled, with others, the castle of Valgenceuse, in the 19th century.
