Shows the preparation and execution of the festivities for the arrival and onward journey of Tsar Nicholas II of Dunkirk via Compiègne and Reims as well as the manoeuvre of Bethény held in his honour, in which 150,000 soldiers took part. With a rare depiction of the Tsar, the entire album gives an excellent impression of the official efforts to accompany him on his journey to Paris, which included the aforementioned great manoeuvre, various parades and the erection of massive, Russian-style festive buildings as portals to the passing cities. Nikolaus II's visit to France came at a time when he was exposed to great hostility and massive threats from anarchists. His visit was the last of a Russian regent to visit France until Khrushchev's visits in the 1950s. - All in all in good condition. Album Czar Nikolas I. in France. Collection of 70 OPhotographies.
