Über einen die Erzeugung und Verwandlung des Lichtes betreffenden heuristischen Gesichtspunkt. Separat-Abdruck aus den Annalen der Physik, Vierte Folge, Band 17, 1905 (Leipzig, Johann Ambrosius Barth, 1905); brochure in-8 format, paginated 132-148, covers (spine split, paper fragile); in a folder and in a red cloth case.
First edition of this classic and founding study on quantum theory. Rare offprint from the periodical Annalen der Physik.
The study focuses on the generation and transformation of light, and in particular the study of the photoelectric effect. Einstein outlines his research on the emission of particles, rejecting the wave theory of light defended by James C. MAXWELL, basing himself on research by Max PLANCK who had established a formula for discontinuous radiation. Einstein concludes by stating that light acts like a wave and a flow of particles, confirming the quanta hypothesis of Max Planck.
