Thoughts on the future of the field of Chemistry, in honour of a professor of Physics who is celebrating his 100 year birthday. Chemistry has lost a bit of its prestige in respect to Physics and Biology. After a half-century of study of molecules, we are only now understanding the laws of valency and non-valency : this will be the challenge for the decades to come.
