ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE OLPE
ca. 525 – 500 BC; height cm 22; diam cm 9; Outstanding black-figure olpe with added colors in white and red. The accessory decoration consists of a band of checkerboard pattern on the rim, a sequence of parallel lines, dotted band, a palmette-lotus double chain a continuous menander. The main decoration is arranged on the central section of the body with a majestic Athena attacking the falling giant Enkelados. The details of the garments and helmets are rendered with elegant touches of color. On the foot, three greeks letters engraved.
