‡ A FINE INDIAN GEM-SET JADE-HILTED DAGGER (KHANJAR), LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY with slightly curved double-edged blade, figured grey hilt carved with a pair of ram's heads on each side and a tiger's head on each face forming the langets, all set with red stone eyes in raised gold settings, slender grip decorated with garnets and turquoise in raised gold settings, the top decorated en suite and carved in imitation of ram's wool, parcel gilt ram's head pommel with garnet set eyes and a small loop in its mouth 23.5 cm; 9 ¼ in blade Provenance Christie's, 29th October 1980, lot 38
