The unique design of the helical spiral base, with carefully stacked glass rectangles, creates a striking aesthetic. What's more, the oval base embellished with chrome-plated metal adds another dimension to this work of art. Bold and striking, this eye-catching piece blends harmoniously into any interior. Biography : Danny lane, born in 1955 in Urbana, Illinois, USA, joined stained glass artist Patrick Reyntiens in 1975 to begin his apprenticeship, which he continued at Oxford's Ruskin School, supplemented by Fine Art courses at London's Byam Shaw School of Art. On Reynteins' recommendation, he joined London's Central School of Art and Design. In 1981, he opened his first studio in Hackney near London, developing his technique of assembling and reusing found materials. His early success led to a relationship with designer Ron Arad, who offered to organize his first exhibition in 1984, before exhibiting at the Milan Furniture Fair. But it was in the 1990s that he began to take on public commissions, which were to become a major part of his output. Internationally acclaimed, his works can be found in many museums, such as his 1986 Stacking Chair at the Victoria and Albert Museum, which uses his "post-tensioning" method, which exploits the resistance of glass under compression by threading a steel rod through layered glass.
