The Huberty & Breyne Gallery will honor the famous cartoonist (1905-1976), from January 13 to February 18 in Brussels. This rare exhibition will bring together 19 plates from the family collection, out of the 40 known today - Albert Dubout having burned a large part of his work during his lifetime.

Close to Matisse and the Fauves, Albert Marquet (1875-1947) carved himself a niche as a painter of water. While in Bordeaux, he tackled the Place des Quinconces and the Garonne in an improvisatory style.

The London-based museum has entered into discussions to return a collection of Asante gold artifacts that were looted during a military raid of the Ghanian city Kumasi in 1874. The dialogue come after the museum’s director visited Ghana earlier this year. (ArtNews)  

The London museum, whose staff were informed Tuesday of measures to save £10 million a year, plans to lay off 103 commercial and reception staff. This 10% reduction in staff would make up for the financial slowdown caused by the health crisis. 

80% of the objects in the museum’s new theater and performing arts galleries will be displayed for the first time. The project, nearly four years in the making, includes the UK’s first skin-tone pointe shoes for BME dancers as well as thigh-high leather boots worn by Lola the drag queen in Kinky Boots. (Guardian)
