Van Gogh Museum acquires Edgar Degas nude

Published on , by La Gazette Drouot

The pastel Woman Bathing (ca. 1886), set to go on permanent display in the Amsterdam museum, may have featured in a show dedicated to Degas’ female nudes, which Van Gogh attended; inspired by the French artist, he mirrored his style in his own studies, for example with body positioning and the use of crosshatching.
