The panels depicting Saint Anthony the Abbot and Saint Catherine of Alexandria come from a sumptuous triptych executed c 1345 for a wealthy Venetian patron, of which 2 other panels - the Angel and the Virgin of the Annunciation - have been in the Louvre since 1996. The artist was in the service of the popes in Avignon.
