A few days after the remarkable sale of several pieces created by Alberto Giacometti for Jean-Michel Frank, another version of the Egyptian lamp, this time painted black, could be a further major event.

The Alberto Giacometti Database lists only six examples of the Egyptian lamp, known as “Tutankhamun”. And only two are colored: one volume-dyed pink, the other painted black—the one now on offer, registered in the Giacometti Database under number AGD 4545. Several exhibitions have established and emphasized the influence of Egypt and ancient statuary on the master's work.
